Our History
Rod Brown Engineering (RBE) was established in 1999 following the closure of Trapco Montage Technik Ltd. Former Trapco director Rod Brown took over the business, continuing its specialist engineering expertise and renaming the company Rod Brown Engineering.
Built on Rod’s practical experience, industry knowledge, and commitment to engineering excellence, RBE was founded with a clear focus on delivering reliable, effective solutions to real-world challenges. From the very beginning, our priority has been to understand our customers’ needs and provide dependable engineering support that adds lasting value.
Joining Forces with Stringo
In the mid-1990s, we joined forces with Stringo, marking the beginning of a long-standing and highly successful partnership. Early vehicle mover models were primarily used in low-volume production areas and showrooms, but growing interest from UK automotive manufacturers quickly drove demand for more advanced solutions. Together, we helped introduce more powerful machines capable of handling larger and heavier vehicles, opening the door to major industry clients.
Customisation and Collaboration
As our customer base expanded, we recognised that no two environments were the same. By working closely with Stringo’s development team, we ensured that each machine could be tailored to specific operational needs. This collaborative approach led to important innovations, including specialised vehicle movers capable of lifting all four wheels—now a key feature across the modern Stringo range.
Expanding into New Sectors
Over time, our reach has grown far beyond the automotive production line. Today, Stringo vehicle movers are used across storage facilities, auctions, museums, private collections, and law enforcement applications. Throughout this journey, we have remained committed to providing not only high-quality equipment but also ongoing support, service, and expertise—helping us build lasting relationships and maintain our position at the forefront of the UK market.
